Artist Statement

I’m a contemporary landscape artist, always exploring, connecting, and creating. My work is deeply inspired by the mountains, valleys, and coastlines of Washington State—places that ground me and stir my creativity. As both a painter and a visual designer, I merge the precision and strategy of design with the expressive, intuitive nature of painting to create bold, impressionistic works that reflect my awe for the natural world.

With strong, fluid strokes, I aim to capture the dangerous beauty and quiet power of nature. I work across multiple media, but recently I've been drawn to digital collage. This process allows me to experiment with layers, textures, and forms—where technology meets tradition—to explore nature’s complexity through a contemporary lens. It’s a way for me to map out my own interpretation of the world, where landscapes are fragmented, reassembled, and reimagined.

Beyond my personal art practice, I’m passionate about helping others connect with meaningful art. I offer art advisory and curation services to clients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond—from Seattle to Suncadia, Bellevue to Yakima—helping them build personalized collections that enhance their living and working spaces. Whether it's through sourcing original pieces, creating custom artwork, or designing cohesive installations, I love working with clients to bring their vision to life.

Based in Ellensburg, WA, I’m also deeply committed to my community. Through exhibitions at Nuwave Gallery, live painting events, and collaborative projects like Winged Wonders and Paper Trails, I engage with fellow artists and mentor emerging talent, including local Central Washington University design students. Supporting young creatives is close to my heart—I want to give them the opportunities I wish I had when I was starting out.

My work has been featured in galleries, wineries, restaurants, cafes, and event venues throughout the Pacific Northwest. You can find a selection of my large original canvases at Venue in downtown Ballard, or follow my journey on Instagram @erinoostra. I'm always open to custom commissions, collaborations, and new adventures in art.

“My goal is to create art that will welcome wonder into your everyday life.”
